Obituary of Walter C Boswell
Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Boswell Walter, 83 passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Gainesville, Florida surrounded by his wife Elizabeth and his six children. He was born on April 27, 1932 to Robert and Harriet Boswell in Brooklyn, New York. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth, on April 11, 1965 in Queens, New York. They most recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Walter was self-employed as an executive recruiter and helped many people, including various family members find rewarding jobs that helped them build their skills and further their careers. Walter worked well into his 70's as he wanted to be sure his wife and six children were well cared for and had what they needed/wanted. Walter was an avid golfer and loved being on the golf course with his wife and friends. He also enjoyed watching all sports with an emphasis on the Mets and Giants. He loved playing poker with his "buddies" and looked forward to his weekly/monthly games. He was very active in St. Aidan's Parish for most of his life. He sent his children to the parish school as he firmly believed that his children's education should be rooted in faith. He was a Eucharistic Minister and brought the Eucharist to the sick and homebound. In addition, he took a special concern for the disabled veterans and made sure he supported them. He also supported the charity Star of the Sea with his monthly monetary donations, and in an effort to show his family the value of volunteering and sacrifice, brought them every Christmas Eve to Star of the Sea where they donated Christmas dinner to the poor and needy. He always looked to spend time with his children and grandchildren and looked for ways to support and encourage them. He was a true family man whose love and selflessness was evident in all he did and said. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth, his children Christine, Kathleen, Thomas, Brian, Marygrace and Joseph; 11 grandchildren Alex, Isabella, Andrew, Ryan, Sofia, Christian, Kylie, Evie, Juliana, Maddie, and Jaxon as well as his anticipated 12th grandchild; his siblings Robert J. Boswell, MD, Warren Tackenberg, and Rosemary Conti; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He will be waked at Weigand Bros. Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18th from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 19th at St. Aidan's Church in Williston Park, New York at 10:00 am.
