Obituary of Dorothy Scharbach

SCHARBACH---Dorothy on June 17, resided in Albertson, NY for 58 years then resided at Dominican Village from April 2009 to March 2013 with her loving husband Charles of over 62 years. Since April 2013 she lived at Ozanam Hall. She was predeceased by Charles in January 2010 and in 1971 by their daughter, Maryellen. Dorothy is survived by her sons Robert (Karen), William (Patricia) and John (Jennifer), grandchildren Kathryn (Sneha), Marilyn (Rebecca), Christopher (Laura), Marian (David), James and Deborah and great-grandchildren Mikayla and Cole. Dorothy was born on January 29, 1922 at her parents' home in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and was raised in Bellerose, Queens. She volunteered for years at Human Resources School in Albertson and worked for ten years at Long Island Jewish Hospital. Visitation hours are Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, 49 Hillside Avenue, Williston Park, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Aidan, 505 Willis Avenue, Williston Park, N.Y. on Thursday at 11:15 am. Interment will follow at Long Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any charity of your choice. Her family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care given to her at Dominican Village and Ozanam Hall.
