Obituary of Dorothy R. Murphy

Dorothy (Coffey) Murphy, age 92 years, of New Castle, DE, formerly of Long Island and Brooklyn, NY, passed away on December 18, 2018. Devoted wife of John J. Murphy, Jr.; beloved mother of Anne Hannes  of Long Island, NY; Kevin J. Murphy, Sr. (Georgeanna) of Long Island, NY; and Sharon Bowser (Jeffrey) of New Castle, DE. Proud grandmother of Jason Bowser of New Castle, DE; Lisa (John) Rodriguez of Long Island, NY; Kevin J. Murphy, Jr. of Dover, DE; and Michael, Erin, and Meggan Murphy of Long Island, NY. Loving great grandmother of James and Julia Rodriguez and Skye, Bree, and Lexi Wilkens, all of Long Island, NY.

Dorothy was a graduate of Bishop McDonnell Catholic High School. She served as a clerical employee with the US Army in Brooklyn, NY, during World War II, and later worked for Paragon Oil Company. She also worked in retail at B. Altman and Company in  Manhasset, NY.

Visitation: Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Weigand Bros Funeral Home 49 Hillside Ave., Williston Park, NY. Funeral Mass Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, 10:00am at St Aidan’s Church, Williston Park, NY. Entombment Holy Rood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
