In memory of my Dear Aunt Helen Rose who was such a "dear special lady" to me, my sisters and brothers. She was my Mom's sister who lived 3 blocks from us while growing up. Aunt Helen and I shared a mutual birthday on July 26th. She was a great story teller especially always reminding me of how I got my name, and how the hospital put it wrong on my birth certificate.
It has been a wonderful journey, full of love, laughter, losses and tears. Many years have passed for all our family. When I hear Aunt Helen's name two words especially come to mind, love and goodness, and an extension of many more words. I spent many of my growing up years in Aunt Helen's home. I still remember how beautiful she looked in her pretty dresses and high heels and her lovely big hats that she wore. I remember the perfume scent of "Chantilly", that she always wore most times.
I know she said the Rosary each day, perhaps even twice a day. Near the end of her life she and I prayed the Hail Mary and Our Father together and I felt so amazed that she remembered the words. I have many good memories but especially enjoyed time with Aunt Helen with our bus rides to Atlantic City, New Jersey, where we would have many conversations and laughs with people on the bus ride. Also remember the many times she had the "Luck of the Irish", because she was very lucky winning most times.
Thank you for letting me share some of my life with you. Your strength helped me and I hope in some way my life helped you. I am so happy that my boys Christopher and Michael grew up knowing such a loving lady.
I place you lovingly in the hands of God. I was blessed with you as my angel on earth and now you are my angel in Heaven. It makes me very sad to know you passed without a family member by your side because of the Pandemic, but I am comforted because I know you are in Heaven with Our Lord, the Blessed Mother and All of your loving deceased family who have passed on.
I love you, and I will miss you Aunt Helen but until we meet again, I am
Your loving Niece
