Obituary of Margaretha Flanagan

Margaretha (Marge) Anna Flanagan of Wiliston Park, NY passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 26th, 2021 at the age of 84.

The only child of Berta Harrns and Carl Sisum, Marge was born in Manhattan and grew up in Yorkville, on the island’s upper east side. Marge and John moved first to the Bronx in the early 1960s and then to Wiliston Park in 1977 to raise their family.  An avid gardener, Marge enjoyed having a backyard and harvesting her blueberries every year to share with family and friends.  After her children were grown, Marge went back to work to continue to share her talents with others. For the past two decades, Marge has been a secretary at BOCES where she enjoyed her work as much as the close friendships with her coworkers.

Marge was an extraordinarily independent woman whose real passion was for her friends and family, particularly her children, Linda and James, and her son-in-law Dennis. The word “giver” is one of the first attributes everyone says about Marge.  She enjoyed bestowing gifts to her family, friends, and their children.  Marge’s sense of humor, generosity, zeal for life, and love of others will continue to live on within all that she knew.

Marge is survived by her daughter Linda Flanagan and son-in-law Dennis Berberich. She was predeceased by her husband, John T. Flanagan, and her son James J. Flanagan. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Marge’s name to Calvary Hospital:
