It's with tears in my eyes, that I'm writing this...
Ed Virgilio saved my life...
We were in the military together & had a serious car accident (T boned by a car doing 85) just prior to getting separated...
We were three - the driver took the door with him, I was in the middle and out on the street unconscious at 2am outside Ft Sill , Oklahoma.... Ed in the passenger seat stuck with the car...
Ed got out and started knocking on doors to get an ambulance called (no cell phones)... I survived and didn't speak to Ed until early 2021...
Ed I, my wife of 64 yrs, my children & grandchildren thank you.... you will never be forgotten...

Rest In Peace Eddie. So many fond memories back in the PBQ days. I enjoyed your yearly boat outings in the 80s when we all would take the day off from work. Fun times. The stories and words of wisdom you shared I’ll never forget. Great guy. True gentleman. Condolences to your family.

We will always remember on Christmas Eve, Eddie coming to our door saying "Can Bob come out and play?" He had his new ZR-1 Corvette and wanted Bob to drive it. He said "Put the peddle to the metal." It was like a rocket ship... the fastest car Bob ever was in. Eddie stated " Chevrolet had built him the best hot rod he had ever owned ! " What fun it was to watch the exotic vehicles that always appeared at his house.
Eddie and his humor will be missed. Our deepest sympathy to Louise, Stephen and Ric.
Love, Meg, Bob and Justin

Eddie was one of those rare people who made everyone feel welcome when He greeted you with that big warm smile of his. When He spoke to you, He was genuinely interested in what you had to say. I loved when He would tell a joke and belly laugh at the punch line, which made the joke that much funnier. He made the world a better place, and I will miss him. Rest easy, My friend. Tom Hayes

I met Eddie when I was 19 years old and just coming into the 104th Field Artillery. Cars were the things that brought us together and Eddie knew everything about them. Even though he was way senior to me, he openly shared his enthusiasm with me and we became strong friends in record time. I bought my first Corvette from him (a red 1979) and later on a green dune buggy. I recall countless times throughout my 20s and 30s that we spent as soldiers, car lovers, and just 2 guys who enjoyed each other's company. I never want to forget them.
Eddie had a magnetic personality that attracted all sorts of people. He was rarely negative and could always seem to find the light side of any situation. Few people have that trait. Eddie was always a happy person. That is how I will remember him.
Thanks Eddie for being such a good friend to me and for always including me and making me feel welcome. I learned a lot from you about how to treat people with dignity and respect. Rest in peace my brother. Mikey

My condolences are extended to Louise and family.
Having served with Ed in both the 104th and DivArty HQs he was always a mentor, friend, and more importantly a good guy.
His time in the military and NYPD, his love for his family and anything with a motor or floated on water will be remembered and appreciate by all who knew him.
Rest In Peace

Remembering the good times on our motorcycles. Eddie was a good friend and I'll miss him. We were always there for each other! We loved going to car shows and swap meets together and he was always good for a laugh. I'll miss you goomba.

I was privelaged to walk a fair amount of this journey with Ed Virgilio. I learned much and shared many precious memories with Ed, often involving motorcycles, hot rods or boating. NONE of these events were without drama or a high degree of adventure. A trip to Lead East in New Jersey on motorcycles to see a car show, and trying to beat a monsoon home, we failed!. A weekend boat trip to Rhode Island only to run into a squall and almost miss the buoy to Montauk (thank God for the military training). Motorcycle rides to bike week in Torrington Ct, or rides out to Westhampton for the All Harley Drags.
As you probably know, Ed loved anything with a motor, the crazier the better. But what Ed was the most proud of, was his wife Louise and his two sons Steven and Ricky. They always came up in conversation and always put a smile on his face.
The photo attached was taken two years ago at Dee Sniders Ride to Benefit Melissa's Wish. Ed rode WWE Super Star Mick Foley in his car. In the picture is Ed, myself, Dee Snider, Chris Milana and Steve Weiss. There are many treasured stories regarding our time together in the National Guard, and I'll treasure them dearly. YOU WILL BE MISSED ED, with love Bill, Fran, Brian and Melissa.

Steve....In the few times I met your Father...
He seemed most enthused when behind the wheel of one of his many vehicles...
May he be remembered with the smile he possessed..
