Obituary of Zopito M . Soccio

Soccio, Zopito "Pete" of Mineola, NY, passed away unexpectedly at age 91 on October 10, 2021. Pete started his lifelong career in aviation as an airplane mechanic and worked his way up to Principal Airworthiness Inspector for the FAA. He was proud of his many accomplishments and enjoyed a lifelong passion for airplanes.  Everyone that knew him fondly recalls many an airplane story that he loved sharing. He was also passionate about winemaking and was affectionately termed "the crazy scientist." He was an avid boater/fisherman and spent many summers fishing with his brother in law Pietro "Pete".  He also loved all plants, trees and gardening. Beloved husband of Yolanda Soccio, and loving father of Rosemary Bianchi (Bruce), Linda Soccio (Bernadette Oehler) and Mark Soccio (Tammie). He was predeceased by his beloved younger brother Gabriel Soccio (Kathy) in 1983. Proud grandfather "Papa" of Brianna and Kayla Soccio. Visitation Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Weigand Bros Funeral Home 49 Hillside Ave., Williston Park NY. Funeral Mass Saturday 9:45 am St. Aidan's RC Church. Interment St. Michael's Cemetery
