Our sincerest condolences to your family on the passing of Jimmy. We have fond memories of Jimmy and his twin brother Bobby as our neighbors growing up on Coventry Avenue. We remember Jimmy as a gifted athlete, and we especially remember his tremendous pole vaulting ability at MHS. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May he rest in peace.

Bobby Guido posted a condolence
Wednesday, November 3, 2021
The extended Guido Family mourns the loss of our long time friend, Jim Howell. An alumnus of Mineola High School, Class of 1960, Jim bled Mineola Mustang maroon and gray. He was a star three-sport athlete, playing on championship teams in football and basketball, and set a New York State record at that time for the pole vault. We initially met him in the mid-1960's when he served as a youth coach in basketball and football for the Mineola Police Boys Club. We retained our friendship as Jim went on to become the highly regarded and honored lacrosse official, organizer, and contributor to which he devoted his time and talent over the last 50 years. Throughout that time he also found a way to consistently support Mineola Athletic Alumni events and fundraisers, and served as a mentor to other alumni crossing his path. If Jim learned you attended Mineola, he’d form an immediate bond and thereafter always extend you the benefit of the doubt, and endless courtesies. Through the years he always remained a true and loyal friend to us personally, and we shared many a good time and laughs together. He will be missed and never forgotten. May he Rest in Peace. Our condolences to his loving wife Judy, devoted son Scott, and the extended Howell family.
