I wasn't able to sleep the night of the accident. I knew Gio for about a month, but we literally sat and talked for hours breaking night each time we were out.
It wasn't just about riding, we talked about his hopes and dreams, his desire to start a family, his dog, his ex-gfs, etc...
He would call me every weekend to see if I was riding, and we'd end up playing phone tag to coordinate.
When it was just us two out he'd get in a pull and wait for me to catch up.
Everytime he would pay my way to eat, and I would protest "Bro, stop. It's my turn!," and he just wouldn't accept it.
Gio had a tremendous heart and he tried to share anything riding related with everyone.
He was extremely passionate about riding and He LOVED it! He loved it as much as he loved other riders that are involved in the sport.
A lot of us use riding as an escape from whatever haunts us, and this was Gio's therapy.
I really wish we'd have more time Gio. It was an honor and a privilege knowing you.
May God forgive you of any shortcomings you had, and accept you into His Kingdom. Ameen.
