Obituary of Joseph F. Vella

Joseph Frank Vella was born on August 3, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. He served his country proudly in the US Air Force during WWII. He married the love of his life, Celine, on April 18, 1955. They were married until her passing in 2007. He retired from the FDNY as a Lieutenant after a long career of 34 years. He is survived by his 3 children, Charles (Maureen), Stephen (Teal) and Theresa (Paul). He was the proud and ever-present "Gramps" to Christianne (Timothy), Coleen (Joseph), Cassandra (Christopher), Kyle (Haley) & Nate. He was "Great- Gramps" to Tyler, Mila, Colton, Olivia, Carter and Cruz. As his grandchildren put it: "Gramps NEVER missed a thing". He attended everyone of their parties, recitals, dance competitions all over the country & most recently Tyler's baseball & football games. Joe made many friends throughout his lifetime. Most recently at the Meadowbrook Pointe where he was an active member in several clubs. Even coming in First place for a Bocce Tournament. He enjoyed meeting the gang at the Clubhouse where he spent several hours a day. He will be sorely missed by all and will forever be in our hearts!
