Lawler, Ethel V. of East Williston, NY (formerly of Queens Village, NY) went to be with her Lord on March 24, 2014, one day before her 88th birthday. Affectionately known as "Sis" to her family and friends; she is preceded in death by her mother and father, Ethel and Joseph Lawler; her sister, Virginia Lawler and her aunt and longtime companion, Virginia G. Lalor. She is survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Ethel was a proud Elementary Educator for over 35 years in the New York City Public School System teaching at P.S. 79, The Francis Lewis School in Whitestone, Queens. She was a devoted caregiver to relatives in need, an amazing artist, avid world traveler, savvy real estate investor, lover of stray animals, and faithfully supported many charitable organizations. Family and friends may visit Weigand Brothers Funeral Home at 49 Hillside Avenue, Williston Park, NY on Thursday, March 27, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Friday, March 28, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29 at 9:45 a.m. at Saint Aidans RC Church, 505 Willis Avenue, Williston Park, NY. Interment will be at St. Charles/Resurrection Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to one Sis's favorite charities.
