Obituary of Lillian T. Welsh
Lillian Therese Welsh, nee Hunker, passed away peacefully with family by her side on December 29, 2023, after a short battle with breast cancer.
Lillian was born April 30, 1936, Bronx, NY. Lillian was the last surviving sibling of eight, born to Anna and Arthur Hunker.
Lillian, affectionately known as Lolli or Lollipop, is survived by her 10 children, Johnny, Marianne (Ty), Suzanne, Carol (Brian), Michael (Debbie), Therese (Matt), Kristin (Gerard), Jonna (Jim), Dana (Gerard), Billy (Emily).
Pre-deceased (1988) by her loving husband and childhood sweetheart John Welsh. Also survived by 27 grandchildren: Cortney, Tommy, Trevor, Kaelin, Shane, Aidan, Ryan, Connor, Sean, Kate, Madison, Keren, Regan, Damian, Taylor, Aisling, James, Jacob, Jared, Jaden, Raven, Niko, Fallon, Liam, Brandon, Finn, Avery and 5 great-grandchildren: Ian, Callum, Silas, Quinton, Lyanna.
Lillian and John moved to Williston Park, NY in 1960 where they raised their ten children. Lillian was an active member of the Williston Park Community, participating in Welcome Wagon for over 50 years. She was active at the St. Aidan’s Church as she had a strong spiritual faith. She was an active member of the Rosary Society. Lillian loved to socialize, and her generosity and good humor made her beloved by many. During her earlier years she participated in a bowling league, enjoyed ceramics, and socializing with her friends. After John retired, Lillian and John enjoyed dining out regularly.
Lillian began her secretarial career when her youngest child turned five. She worked for many years, finishing her career after twenty-five years at Lorenz Schneider. Lillian retired one day before her 70th birthday.
She will be forever missed by her family and friends, and the memories she created in her lifetime will be cherished always.
