Obituary of Charles H. Stanton

Charles Henry Stanton Jr. passed away in his 101 st year peacefully with family by his side on January 1, 2024 after a stroke event on Thanksgiving night that caused his health to decline rapidly. Charles was born on June 27, 1923 Manhattan, NY. Charles was the oldest sibling of seven born to Margaret and Charles H. Stanton Sr. Pre-deceased (1975) by his loving wife Norma I Nelson and loving son Daniel Stanton (1999).

Devoted father of Charles (Stephanie), James (Anne), Robert (Catherine), Thomas (Elizabeth) and John. Dear brother of Robert and Paul, the late Rosemary, Ruth, Donald and Thomas. Loving grandfather of James Jr. (Julia), Michael (Monica), Elizabeth, Kate (Andrew), Charles (Angela),
Jacqueline (Robert), Christopher (Alexandra), Thomas Jr. (Stephanie), Kristina (Connor), Jenna, Briana and Grace. Loving great grandfather of Emma, Allison, James, Jack, Baird, Kayla, Nico, Veronica, Charles, Vera, Conor, Liam, and McKenna.

Charles served in WWII in the Army Air Corps as Staff Sergeant radio operator in C-46 aircraft where he was stationed in the Philippines until 1946. Charles met his wife Norma Nelson while training in the army in Syracuse, NY and got married to Norma when he returned to the US after the war in 1946. Charles and Norma moved to Williston Park in 1950 and raised their six children where they all attended and graduated from St. Aidan’s School. Charles was a staff engineer for the New York Telephone Company for Forty years and retired in 1986. He spent most of his retirement years on the west coast of Florida and would come back to Williston Park in the summers.
