Obituary of Barbara W. Kolsen
Barbara Kolsen of Mineola, passed away on January 17, 2024. She was 100 years old.
Barbara was born on September 30, 1923 to Joseph and Mary Stankiewiez, and had a younger sister, she adored, named Bertha who predeceased her.
Family members said she was a perfect wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and the very best friend to many. Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an amazing baker, seamstress and enjoyed life. Most of all anyone who had the pleasure to know and love her knew her favorite expression….”I love people” and she proved that many times over by seeing the good in everyone and spreading kindness to all.
Predeceased by her husband, Emil (Bud) and her son Kenneth, she is survived by her children, Kathleen (Al) of Islip, Long Island and Michael (Jana) of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, Grandchildren Deborah (Lee), Albert ( Nicole) and Charles (Sandi); Alexandra and Zachary and Great Grandchildren Kaitlin (Thomas), Lauren. and Al.
The family will receive visitors Friday, January 26 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, 49 Hillside Ave. in Williston Park. A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Aidan Church in Williston Park. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
