Obituary of Rudy E. Tretter

Rudy Tretter was a family and working man. At a young age, Rudy was a professional baseball player with the San Francisco Giants organization. After his baseball career came to a close, he worked for the NYC Department of Sanitation, where he rose to the rank of foreman and was in charge of snow removal in Manhattan. Rudy continued to play softball and had many of his fondest memories at Farmer’s Oval and Victory Field for many different bar teams. He was always the guy you wanted on your team because he was a fierce competitor, true team player, and a winner. Baseball was always important to Rudy, especially his Mets who he rooted for the majority of his life.

Rudy was passionate about many things in life, including baseball, golf (with 2 hole-in-ones), cards, fishing/hunting, shooting pool, video casino games, bingo, bocce, horse shoes, sudoku puzzles, bowling and darts. He loved to bet, even if it was only for a quarter. Whenever Rudy walked into a room, he brought a fun and positive energy - he was the life of the party. On numerous occasions, he would get everyone out of their seats to act out the YMCA by The Village People. Rudy always had a great time celebrating with his family and friends, which included dancing at parties, singing to whoever would listen, and making instrument noises. No one will ever forget his removed finger, quarter behind the ear, and invisible ball in the bag tricks. He always entertained the little kids and they all loved and remembered him when they were older adults.As a true family man, Rudy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He always took care of his family and always put a smile on their faces.Rudy is survived by his loving wife Anne, his sons Glenn (and wife Susan) .and Ken (and wife Stacey), and his grandchildren Brian, Emily, and David.
