Obituary of John T. Kinahan

John Kinahan, 76, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 16 at North Shore Medical Center. John spent much of his early life in Queens, NY, before moving to Long Island in 1984. John is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Franco, along with his two cherished grandchildren, Jonfranco and Gabriella and sister- in-law Carol Keating. John was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years Virginia, his parents Raymond and Catherine Kinahan (Kelly), and his siblings, Raymond Kinahan and Rita Bellavance.  He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law Jeremiah Keating and Joe Bellavance. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, John served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War. His bravery earned him the Purple Heart, a testament to his heroism and dedication.  After his military service, John joined the New York Police Department.  Later, he embarked on a successful career as an entrepreneur, further demonstrating his drive and commitment to hard work and determination. John had a deep love for his family and friends, and his life was marked by joy and generosity. A passionate fan of the Yankees and Rangers, John also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially dogs. Known for his quick wit and infectious laughter, John found happiness in bringing smiles to everyone around him.  He will be deeply missed by his daughter, son-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends To know John was to love him—a man of kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for those close to him. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in his life. Rest in Peace, John.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you make a donation to the Dementia Society of America in John’s honor.
