I recently came upon my old Power Memorial Yearbook and began browsing the web to see where some of us ended up. Though I didn’t know George well in high school, he was a familiar face and voice. We often found ourselves next to each at certain assemblies and classes, as our last names are alphabetically next to each other. At any rate, my belated condolences to his family.

So sorry to hear of George's passing. We met each other while in High School in the Corona daze. Always happy to see each other and although years went by, George came to our Corona-Elmhurst Reunion Party back in early 2,000. Great Guy. A pal. You are gone too soon 'BRO'

I was saddened to read of George's passing. I remember him as a happy-go-lucky kid, and smart. George lived down the block from me, on 101st Street in Corona. I remember his house. As I recall, it was one of several attached houses. It had a balcony on the second floor. I remember his dad as a very nice man. George was one of the younger guys on the block. We all played with our toy soldiers and trucks in my family's yard when we were younger. Or, later, tackle football there, or touch or stickball on the big street that was V-shaped for many years until the City extended it – 99th Street – through to the LIE. My best friend and best man, Anthony, was one of the guys. He remembered bowling against George. I guess they were in a league together. Anthony was an excellent bowler, but he said that George regularly beat him. Thinking of him brings back wonderful memories. He obviously led a self-sacrificing, brave life as a member of the FDNY as well as having brought joy to others, as he did as a boy in Corona. I know he's resting in peace. He and all of his family are in our prayers. --John and Arlene Vosilla
